Students of Hám János High School participated in the final mobility of the CREATE Erasmus project in Bari, Italy, between May 18 and 22, returning home with rich experiences and unforgettable memories. The meeting was a particularly important part of the project, as over the past two years the students had formed close relationships and friendships with their European peers.
The main focus of the mobility was on global issues currently debated within the European Union. During international workshops and discussions, students addressed topics such as migration, war, and global warming. Working in multinational teams, participants shared their opinions and jointly searched for possible solutions to the challenges of a rapidly changing world.
Another key objective of the meeting was to explore the healthy Mediterranean lifestyle. Students gained insight into the process of olive oil production and learned about its different varieties and uses. As part of the program, they also discovered the traditions of bread making and even had the opportunity to try baking bread themselves during an interactive workshop at the Montemurro educational farm.
During the mobility, participants visited several towns in southern Italy. Bari, one of Italy’s charming coastal cities, impressed the group with its historic old town, narrow streets, and the famous Basilica of Saint Nicholas.
The group also visited Matera, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Basilicata region, where the cave dwellings of Sassi di Matera made a strong impression on the students.
The itinerary also included Alberobello, where participants admired the world-famous trulli houses. The coastal town of Monopoli likewise provided memorable experiences with its picturesque harbor, old town, and the impressive Basilica Cattedrale Maria Santissima della Madia.
On the final day of the project, participants visited the Regional Council of Puglia, explored its library, and briefly joined a conference organized by the University of Bari. The closing ceremony was an emotional moment for everyone involved, as it marked the end of the CREATE Erasmus+ project mobilities. Although students and teachers had to say goodbye to one another, they hope that the shared experiences and European friendships will continue in the future.
